TWAtlARTCC.jpg (41455 bytes) Memphis ARTCC- early 60's - Thanks to Don Overstreet for identifying this photo as the Memphis Center.  Don writes:  This picture was made shortly after the center opened on Democrat Road and  is easily recognized as the Memphis Center by the chairs without arms.  It was the only new Center to open with chairs without arms for the controllers.  Prior to opening at this location it was at the old Delta C&S building on Winchester Rd.

That is Terry Woods standing with glasses.  Watching the card punch computer print strips with hands on waist is Ken Farmer, one of the original Flight Data Supervisors.  Loading strips on the paddle is George Hiatte.  George was a full performance controller but this day he was the "Runner" and ran the strips to the various sectors.  Norm Kennedy is the watch supervisor sitting at "The Desk" on the far left.  If you were told someone wanted to see you at the desk, it wasn't good.  Dan Bergen standing with his hands on hips in front of the desk talking.  Controller on far right with back to camera working the Muscle Shoals Sector without any help and doing an outstanding job is Don OverstreetWoody Parker is not pictured, but he was the Chief.
