Ben F. Scott passed away June 12, 1999.
He was a WWII veteran. Originally a relief technician in the old SW Region, Ben moved to
Atlanta when the Southern Region was organized in 1962, and retired there as Chief,
Electronic Installation Section in 1976 with more than 30 years service Ben is survived by his wife, Teresa; 4 children,
Joe, Ben, Jr., Charlotte and John; and was predeceased by his first wife, Monda. Ben
and Teresa were faithful members of the Doraville Presbyterian Church. Don Reininger wrote, "We will all miss Ben. He was a colleague,
family friend, fishing partner and JUST GREAT PEOPLE." Dale Kelly said, "We
will miss Ben. He was a friend to all who knew him."
Hugh Poe Sherrill
Thanks to Bill and Dot Rucker for bringing this to our attention. Hugh's wife, Margie, told Bill that Hugh passed away last Friday and the
funeral was Monday May 24. Margie's home address is: Marjorie Sherrill, 203 Creek Bed Court, Peachtree City, Georgia, 30269.

The following is a copy of his obituary from the Atlanta Journal:
Mr. Hugh Poe Sherrill, age 88 of Peachtree City died Friday, May 21, 2004. Mr. Sherrill was born in Lenoir, NC.,
one of 10 children of Caswell and Bessie Sherrill. He began his career in the United States Air Corp and
served the U.S. Navy in WWII. Mr. Sherrill worked for the Federal Aviation Agency for 40 years, retiring as an
International Affairs Officer. During his time with the FAA, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from Washington D.C.
and received the Panama Canal Master Key for his negotiation work as Master Aviation Advisor. After retirement, Mr. Sherrill formed
his own Aviation Consulting Business, working around the world until the age of 80. He was Past President of the Airport Rotary Club
and an active member of the Peachtree City Rotary Club. Mr. Sherrill was also a private aircraft pilot, a member of the National
Aeronautic Association and a member
of the Peachtree City Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Hale Sherrill, his
daughter, Susan Sherrill Hobby and her husband, Julian of Moreland, GA; his second daughter, Heather Sherrill Grace
of Atlanta; and grandson Ryan Sterling Sherrill of Denver, CO. Mr. Sherrill is also survived by two brothers,
C.C. Sherrill of Lenoir, NC; and Merrick Sherrill of Charleston, SC; and three sisters, Mabel Watkins of Richmond, VA;
Shirley Branch of Lenoir, NC; and Juanita Jones of White Marsh, MD. Funeral services to be held 2 p.m. Monday, May 24 at the chapel of Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home in
Peachtree City. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mowell's in Peachtree City.

Ora Wesley Young, Jr., 82, of Valdosta passed away Saturday, May 1, 2004 at
his home after a short illness. He was born on December 29, 1921 in
Shreveport, LA and was a retired Air Traffic Controller. He was preceded
in death by his wife of 58 years, Jane-Ann Crittenden Young of East Point,
his mother, Mary Lucille White Young of Falls Church, VA, his father, Ora W.
Young, Sr. of Clearwater, Fla. and his great grandson, Tarpley Vallotton of
Valdosta. Mr. Young worked as an Air Traffic Controller under the CAA and
then FAA for 36 years. He was the assistant chief of the Atlanta Center
before he retired. He spent four years in active duty during WWII in the
Army Air Forces and obtained the rank of Major. He was an Eagle Scout, a
graduate of Kenyon College, a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and
President of Rye Bucks. Mr. Young was a hereditary member of Daedalians, a
WWI flying organization of which his father was a founder member. Survivors
include a daughter and son in-law, Mala and Joe Vallotton of Valdosta; two
sons and a daughter in-law, Christopher and Joy Young of Panama City Beach,
Fla. and Jonathan Young of Atlanta; three grandsons, Rouse and Lynn
Vallotton,
Joseph Vallotton, III and Wesley Vallotton. Mr. Young will be buried with
his wife in Christ Episcopal Church Burial Garden in Valdosta at a family
service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of
South Georgia, P.O. Box 1727, Valdosta, GA 31603 or another favorite group

Administration, died Wednesday at Cordova Rehabilitation and Nursing
Center. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at West Tennessee
Veterans Cemetery. Family Funeral Care has charge. He was a member of
Mensa. Mr. Prewett, the husband of Frances Phillis Prewett for 49 years,
also leaves three daughters, Patricia Lillian Lipsey of Germantown,
Elwyn Carol Honeycutt of Lakeland and Elizabeth Ann Perry of Maryville,
Tenn.; three sons, David Raymond Prewett of Collierville, William Ray
Prewett of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Eric Leo Prewett of Memphis, and four
grandchildren.
We are saddened to report that Jeddy passed away Saturday, May 24, 2003 after a lengthy illness with

1999.) He was well known throughout the Atlanta area, having served at the
Atlanta Airport and the Atlanta Center. He and Vivian attended several of
our SORFAR reunions. Our thoughts and prayers are with Vivian, family and

Hazel Dunn passed away October 16, 2002 after a short illness.

She was devoted to her family; Bill, her husband of 54 years, son David and his wife, Virginia,
three grandchildren, Aaron, Zachary and Olivia, a brother, a sister, and a number of nieces and cousins. Although
they were her life, and she loved them dearly, she had time for, and loved, a host of friends too.
She was loved in return, by all who knew her, and will be greatly missed. She and Bill were regulars at
our SORFAR reunions.

Roy Blair, retired
from the Atlanta Center, and a SORFAR
member, passed away on February 25, 2001. Roy and his wife Barbara
had become full time RV'ers and were in Texas when he died of a

11/9/00 Wilbur "Jug" Jarmon died November 8 of cardiac
arrest while in the intensive care unit at the Atlanta Medical
Center. Wilbur is survived by his wife Sandra and daughter

10/10/00 We are sad to report the deaths of members, Walker Posey and
Howard Nelms.
Harold
Nelson let us know of the passing of Walker Posey on October 7 due
to a heart attack. A memorial service was held in
Kingsport, TN today and another service took place at the
Poseyville Methodist Church in Poseyville, Ga, near Bremen, Ga. Walker was an active member of SORFAR and with wife
Patricia had attended many reunions, including Gatlinburg in October
2000.
Herb Galloway reported the death of Howard M. Nelms on
this date at the Fayette Community Hospital. Howard was a
longtime employee at the Atlanta Air Route Traffic Control Center
and will be missed by his family and many friends. Services
are scheduled for Thursday 10-12 at 10:30 am at the First
Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City. (No picture available)

Hubbard, wife of Harry Hubbard, on July 15, a victim of cancer. Jeanne
designed and published the beautiful Charleston 1998 web pages. Jeanne is
pictured here with Harry at the Charleston reunion.

Drinkwater, a regular attendee of the SORFAR reunions passed away April 3,
2000 and was buried in Clinton, Mississippi. Fred had suffered
from heart problems and had been in and out of the hospital recently.
